getting into UCONN MBA

by lmperri » Sun Aug 02, 2009 7:30 pm
Hi Stacy,

I am really interested into going to UCONN for my MBA. I understand that while it is not a Top 20 school, it is still a decently difficult admissions process. I was wondering what you thought on my chances on getting in and what score i should be really striving for on the GMAT and any other adivce you could give on helping with my application.

GPA: 3.1
School: Quinnipiac
Work Experience - 1 1/2 - Claim Consultant Insurance Company
Extra: Acadmic paper submitted to 2 conferences

Would u recommend an alternative transcript? Anything else that could improve my chances of getting in?

Dear Imperri,

There is no reason to do an alternative transcript in your case unless you either did poorly in your quantitative coursework or have no quantitative coursework. Your GMAT score should be in the mid-80% range at minimum, but it is best to score at or above the average for the school. Your essays, recommendations and interview are critical to your evaluation, so these components give you an opportunity to provide a compelling case for admission. Finally, I would suggest visiting the campus if you haven't already and establishing a rapport with the admissions office. You want them to know who you are in a positive way, so your application isn't just another file.

Good luck,
Lisa
