GMAT PREP Technical problem? Help please

by zueswoods » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:53 pm
Hi Guys,

Just did a GMAT prep and got 30 in verbal with 12 incorrect answers. The last time I did gmat prep i got 14 incorrect and ended up with 39. I have attached a picture of my answer sheet so you can see where I got them wrong
Image

Can this be a mistake in the software?

I thought the first 10 was a myth?

The NUMBER of questions answered correctly is a weak indicator of your score.
Just as important -- if not more important -- is the LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY of the questions answered correctly.

Here's one possible explanation for the lower score on your second test:
You missed a high proportion of Q6-11 -- most of which were probably hard, since you answered 4 of the first 5 questions correctly.
By missing these hard questions, you induced the software to stop feeding you hard questions.
The next set of questions thus were of moderate difficulty.
By answering these questions correctly, you induced the software to try once more to feed you hard questions.
Then you missed a high proportion of Q24-30.
The result is that a majority of the questions that you answered correctly were of moderate difficulty, yielding a medium-level score.

I think first 10 question is not totally a myht. I remember my first Gmat prep test and I got 9 incorrect in first 11, after that point the exam constantly gave me easy questions and if I remeber it correctly, I got only 5 or 6 incorrect answers out of 30. I ended up the verbal part with a score of 19. I think it is almost impossible to get mid-level or high - level questions after consequently incorrect answers in the first part. I think the importance of the first questions is not their value but their effect on the subsequent questions' difficulty level.

I also want to show you one of my friends' result. I don't have an image but here are her incorrect answers ( quantitive);

Her 7th, 8th and 14th questions are incorrect and there is no more incorrect until 20th question so as you see , it is an unbelievable start.
Between 20th and 37th questions her incorrect answers are : 20, 21, 22, 26, 27,28, 30, 33, 35
She scored 48 in this exam.
Everyone says it is just a myth but I am not sure about this.
