I'm looking at applying to business school this fall with the intent of starting in the Fall of 09.
I have an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from a top ten engineering school, plus a minor in economics. GPA: 3.4, Major GPA: 3.6
Undergraduate activities:
- was an officer for the EE honor society, and helped to organize the annual spring picnic, including arranging for food, tables, and soliciting gifts from local businesses to serve as door prizes
- was an officer for the EE Student Faculty committee, and was responsible for setting up the annual undergraduate research competition, where a prize would be given out to the top undergraduate research paper submitted.
- was heavily involved with religious and cultural organizations as well
GMAT: 750 (49 Q, 42 V, still waiting on the AWA score, as I took the test last week)
GRE: 1450 (790 M, 660 V, 5.5 AWA) - this was taken in 2003 however
Work experience: Have worked for an supply chain solutions provider for the last four years, two years as a programmer/analyst, the last two as a lead/consultant. Have been promoted twice - current title is "Senior Consultant", and current responsibilities include:
- Managing software implementations for large customers (companies that are household names)
- Designing solutions based on customer requirements
- Coordinating tasks across team members both in the US and India
After getting out of B-school, my short term goals are to work for a strategy consulting firm, and the long term goals are still a work-in-progress.
The schools I'm looking at are:
Emory (Safety)
Kellogg
Tuck
INSEAD
Darden
Chicago
Wharton (reach), and HBS (reach).
Are these schools and goals realistic? Also, what can I do to strengthen my candidacy at this point?
