Since it says equal quantities from all of them. Lets suppose we take 120 litres from each.

1st: 80liters milk + 40 liters water
2nd: 72liters milk + 48liters water
3rd: 75liters milk + 45liters water.

Total: 227liters milk + 133liters water.

227/133 is the answer.

You want equal quantities of each sample, so try and choose a number that is easy to divide into each ratio. Best way to do this is to add each ratio. 2+1 =3 ; 3+2=5; 5+3=8 Now find the LCM of 3,5 and 8 => 120

Take 120 as the quantity of each sample.

Sample A which is 2:1 has 80ml milk and 40ml water
Sample B which is 3:2 has 72ml milk and 48ml water
Sample C which is 5:3 has 75ml milk and 45ml water

Add all 3.

This gives us a sample that has 227ml milk and 133ml water

So the ratio is 227/133

You have to get faster, cowboy :D

Your explanation is better than mine, though :)

Hahaha, Quick-draw McGraw eh? :D

Yeah this reminds me of those weekly challenges on BTG where people camp the live feed to be the FIRST to comment and win the goodies :D

Except here there's no goodies, other than the imaginary "I-WIN" button on your lapel I suppose :D

Still fun though ;)

This forum ain't big enough for the both of us, buddy

:D

Let the equal quantity be X

Milk proportions in each samples are 2x/3,3x/5,5x/8

Adding we get 227x/120

Water proportions in each samples are x/3,2x/5,3x/8

Adding we get 133x/120

So milk and water proportion in mixture is 227x/120/133x/120=227/133

best take a lcm of 3,5,8 (adding of proportion) you get 120
now 1st sample proportion of milk and water = 80:40
now 2nd sample proportion of milk and water=72:48
3rd sample proportion of milk and water =75:45
after adding proportion of milk and water=227:133
Ideation without execution is delusion
