Also, can somebody explain why Which.....,they.....,they.......is making sense in choice A?

Thanks in Advance.

A

In B, the construction "their style is varying among" suggests that it is happening as we speak
In C, the continuity is broken by trying to make "and they are in styles that vary" an independent clause. Also the antecedent of 'they' is uncertain; it could refer to geometric symmetries or to the murals themselves

Meaning Choice A
Margaret has traveled to remote dwellings in...to photograph the art of Ndebele women, whose murals are brilliantly colored, their geometrical symmetries embellished ...

The sentence explains that Margaret has traveled to remote places to photograph the art of certain tribe of women. The murals of these women are brilliantly colored. Then the sentence explains how the murals are brilliantly colored - their geometrical symmetries embellished with...So the part of the sentence - their geometrical...- describes the specified part of the preceding clause; it provides more description to why the author says that the murals are brilliantly colored.

This part is a Noun + Noun Modifier. Noun = their geometrical symmetries. Noun Modifier - verb-ed modifier - embellished with...
Now look at choices B and C
(B) whose murals are brilliantly colored, their geometrical symmetries are embellished with old and new iconography, and their style is varying among women and houses
(C) whose murals are brilliantly colored, their geometrical symmetries are embellished with old and new iconography, and they are in styles that vary from woman to woman and house to house
These two choices change the modifier above to a clause and hence by changing the structure of the sentence in this manner, the intended focus of modification is lost. Furthermore, this clause is not connected properly to the rest of the sentence.

The other errors presented by sl750 are also present here.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Egmat
.So the part of the sentence - their geometrical...- describes the specified part of the preceding clause; it provides more description to why the author says that the murals are brilliantly colored.
Which part of the preceding clause does " their geometrical...-" modify . Could you please explain

Their is referring to 'Murals'.

Murals meaning -- painting. also logically 'geometrical symmetries cannot refer to women.. I feel so.

Pasting what I stated earlier in my post -
"it provides more description to - why the author says that the murals are brilliantly colored. "

So in essence it is not truly modifying mural - though it presents information about the murals. This is the beauty of such modifiers. They can modify any particular aspect of the preceding clause. For more information on these modifiers, you may refer to this post and the posts that are referenced in it.

Hope this helps.

B and C are run-ons. "Their geometrical symmetries are embellished with old and new iconography." is a complete thought and cannot be connected to another independent clause with commas only.

In D and E, it implies that Margaret is photographing the women physically standing next to the murals, but that is not the right meaning. The murals belong to the women.
