I have a doubt, please help:

My friend does not eat asparagus as I do.

In the sentence above, does it mean that I also dont eat asparagus or does it mean I eat asparagus?

Thanks

"My friend does not eat asparagus as I do. "

I am not sure if this is a well-formed sentence. First time, I comprehended the sentence as suggesting "my manner of eating aspargus is different from my friend."

Yup I also feel that the sentence talks about comparing the eating manner instead of the food ...........

crick is correct; that would be the unique interpretation of the sentence. (it's impossible for "i do" to represent "does not eat"!!)
there are better ways in which this sentence could be written, but it's actually perfectly ok.

here's another example of the same:
mitch chose not to join the military, as all of his brothers had done; instead, he became a professional musician.
Ron has been teaching various standardized tests for 20 years.
