Retaking Exam...new study strategy?

by TestTaker_600 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:53 pm
I took the GMAT two weeks ago. Didnt score as well as I had hoped (But killed the AWA - 5.5!). I am planning to retake the exam in late March/early April.

I'm generally not the greatest test taker but I feel like I've got a good grasp on the material, biggest problem for me that I've noticed is my speed. Don't think i'm working fast enough and mainting a high level of focus the entire exam has been a challenge.

Any advice on new study strategies or test taking tips?

If you feel fairly comfortable with your understanding of the subjects, I would really focus your re-take prep on your timing. This is an aspect of the GMAT that very few people master; it simply takes lots of practice to get comfortable with the pace.

Check out this post about using a GMAT Practice Grid to aide your preparation. Also think about creating some flashcards or using my GMAT Flash Cards to stay fresh on the concepts.

Good luck, and please leverage this community during your prep. Remember, one of the best ways to learn/understand concepts is to teach to others--forum participation is certainly an effective prep element as well.
