Hello,

I wrote GMAT on 13th Feb and got a score of 550, after studying for three months.
I also took a live online course with Kaplan.
in all of my Kaplan practice tests, I always scored ranging from 550 to 590 and never crossed 600.
I was hoping to socre above 600 on the test day but unfortunately I failed.

I want to rewrite the GMAT again within a month, so that I can meet the application deadline for 2010 Fall.
Can you guys help me devise a study plan. How should I go about things.

Honestly, I used to sit for atleast 8 hours a day through out Janurary and I still didnt hit my target.
I dont know what am I doing wronge.
According to Kaplan smart reports, by three weaknesses are number properties, properties of sets and geometry.

How should I study for a month, so that I can hit 640 or 650

No, I have no MGMAT Books. I can't afford to buy 30 dollar books now. I guess I will look for free e-books.
Do you guys know any link from where I can download a soft copy?

and guys I just found out something today. After my GMAT result I was soo pissed off that I didnt even check my percentile in each section. I checked it today and found out I had 74 percentile in Quant and only 22 in Verbal. I guess, I have to focus on verbal more than quant.
what do you guys suggest, I should do. Is 74 percentile good in Quant?

74% in Quant is good enough when your verbal is 22... definitely get your hands on some verbal material. some people on here have soft copies of materials. i unfortunately do not... but ask around

Hi,

First, you have to identify what went wrong and work on it. If you are not able to find what is wrong, then you have to change your GMAT preparation strategy.

I don't have any advices if you have to take the next GMAT pretty soon, ELSE,

Take a small break, Start over your preparations freshly.
Don't be in a hurry. The final GMAT scores will be almost the same as what you get in GMAT Preps. Don't take the actual GMAT until you consistently get the target scores in GMAT Preps.
The more you learn, the more you know, what you don't know.

Thank you guys!

Well, now I am planning instead of end of March, I will schedule my GMAT somewhere near mid of april.
and I think you are definately right, I should not book anything until I am getting scores around my target scores in practice tests.
I was getting around 550 to 590 in my practice test and indeed scored 550 on my actual test too.
Iam planning to take a break this week and from 23rd of Feb, I will start all over again.

and my strategy is, instead of focusing on all the things one by one. For first two weeks, I should work hard on CR, Sentence correction and RC. and then I should start doing maths along with Verbal for next 4 weeks.
What do you guys suggest?

MTariq, this is a good strategy. My only addendum to that is that as you move onto another topic, make sure you're doing a couple problems a day from the previous topic that way it will stay fresh in your mind!

I think on Amazon they're very close to the prices on the MGMAT website. Also depending on where you're located you may be able to find them in Barnes & Noble. I know here in the city I see them all the time. Sometimes I even feel awkward walking out with my copies because I think they're going to think that I stole them. lol
