GMAT Retake Strategy

by DCJ » Wed Jun 01, 2011 6:55 pm
I took a GMAT prep course two years ago in which I studied for the GMAT for 3 months and scored a 690 on the real exam. I ended up putting b-school on hold and am now going through the process again. I plan on retaking the GMAT. My target score range is between 700-740. Any advise on preparing for the retake since it has been so long? I am looking for feedback from someone who has been in a similar situation and also those who can extol the merits of self-study vs. a prep course or vice versa. Thanks in advance.

I advice the following:
Target the test like you never took it.
Aim for 750 or more.
Go through everything like it is all fresh.
Get the right books. MGMAT SC, CR Bible etc should help.

Prep courses versus Self study depends on your current strength. I think if you already scored 690, a prep course might not help you much.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)
