Newbie: Need suggestion on which books to study.

hi,

I have just started preparing for Gmat. I plan to take up GMAT by end of June 2010. I am good at maths. I have the following books:

1. Kaplan GMAT Live Online.
2. OG 12, 11, 10.
3. OG verbal.
4.Powerscore CR

Queries:

1.My plan is to study Kaplan Live online & Powerscore CR first and then move on to OG's. Is this the right approach???

2. What other books should I need to buy ??? ( Manhatten SC, Kaplan 800 etc etc ????)

3. How many days or weeks should I assign in my plan for each book ??? ( considering 2 hr/day study)

You have asked a trivial question. Each individual's approach is different and I don't think there is one best way to prepare for the GMAT.

Your approach is absolutely fine if you think it suits you. Personally, I started preparing with OG 11. The reason was that I wanted to check what GMAT was all about and which guide could be better than the one written by the test makers themselves. If you find this logic appealing, you may start with OG. Otherwise, keep to what you ahve planned.

2. What other books should I need to buy ??? ( Manhatten SC, Kaplan 800 etc etc ????)

I think you pretty much have all the right books (general GMAT prep). If you need specific help with any single topic, as you move along the prep process, you may think of buying some specific books. However, Manhattan SC Guide (available free online) is a great resource to prepare for the SC questions.

3. How many days or weeks should I assign in my plan for each book ??? ( considering 2 hr/day study)

Again, the answer to this question is entirely upto you; your ability to grasp the subject matter of a book will control this. All I can suggest is that spend considerable time on OG, as this book is the most reliable source for your preparation. I have gone through all the problems in the OG 11 twice during my preparation, including all the explanations.

But there is one more book on SC in manhattan website https://www.manhattangmat.com/Store.cfm .

Which one should I study ?


Should I refer MAnhatten CR ??
