kaplan gmat CAT

by prindaroy » Sun Jul 19, 2009 8:29 pm
I just took a Kaplan CAT from the Kaplan course and my score is a little weird since my raw scores were as follows;

V:50(99%ile) , Q:48(84%ile), Total score: 730

I've never scored that high in verbal before and my previous highest score was like 39. Secondly, when I input those scores into the 800score link; https://www.800score.com/score2.php, the scaled score comes to 780 as compared to 730. So does anyone have a clue what's going on? Why is there so much of a discrepancy?

Its essentially fraud. Kaplan does that to ensure their money back guarantee. It is a scam, use the Kaplan CATs for practice and to help with conditioning, but don't worry too much about the score.

Hey osirus,
I want to ask a question regarding this-Shouldn't we trust the Kaplan test scores as some benchmark for the GMAT.

Also, which company test course would you recommend for actual score analysis??

And I do agree with bhumika that in the market, news is afloat that kaplan tests are hard and if you score gud on them ,u are bound to fare well in the GMAT.
Is it such that for initial tests, they give easier questions so that the applicants can score good and once the "MONEY BACK -GUARANTEE" period is over ,they start giving their standardized tests???

Asking for feedback from experts over here!!!!
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

Just because something is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't try,it means you should just try harder.

Really if its a scam ...then what should we do ...how should we prepare then if this type of things happen
I think harsh you are saying right that kaplan might be giving easier test in their trial period just to boost up their sales..
and real test comes when u buy it..so its a part of their business....that is what management is called..its a part of game and i think its fair...
rather it will encourage some people...
and the one who is very good and know his potential always knw that trial ques may be fake...

whatever I have heard a lot about reader's digest sweepstakes being a big fake -- and if u do a research work on net u will find its a strategy by them....so show must go on.. :D :D

I agree . kaplan is doing a pretty good job.

people wont just buy their material or attend their classes if kaplan had a bad reputation .

I'd personally recommend kaplan 800 for math as well as for verbal .
