Post prep course strategy feedback

Hi all,

I recently finished my Veritas Prep course, I feel much more confident in my flexibility understanding how to finesse numbers!

Here are the stats

Pre class score GMAC Exam 1: 470 29Q 27V

Post class Veritas test- 640 43Q 31V

Obviously you can see where my efforts were placed lol. I plan on doing an error analysis this morning and then work on those weaknesses for about a week and then take another mock GMAT.

Thoughts? Would love to hear back from other peers!

I haven't scheduled a test date yet and don't intend to until I break 700 on a mock exam.

Hi kdn508,

It certainly looks like you've made some big improvements thus far. To properly assess your situation, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying:

1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used besides this course?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

When you took your CATs:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you'll likely take the Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions before you took the CAT?

March- Course
April -Course / Target- Word Problems/ Sentence Correction
May- Sentence Correction (life got a bit busy so there were some slow weeks here)
2. Mainly Veritas Prep and GMAC review guides, also have MGMAT books
3. They are listed above
4. Yes
5. Yes
6. Yes
7. No
8. Baseline assessment yes but 2 years in between

Hi kdn508,

If you've taken just 2 CATs in the last 4 months, then we don't have any type of information about whether your scores are consistent or not. If it's been at least 1 week since you took that 2nd CAT, then you should plan to take another CAT soon. Once you have that score result, you should post back here. With that result, we'll have a better idea of whether your scores are consistent or not. That having been said, to raise your score to 700+, you could likely pick up all of the missing points that you're looking for in either the Quant section, the Verbal section or a combination of BOTH.
