Greenhorn Questions...

by DrewHorn » Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:27 am
Hello,

I am brand new to the GMAT/GMAT Test prep. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind to shed some light on the following:

1) What is the basic strategy for this test? i.e with the SAT, questions you leave unanswered do not count against you. Is this the case for the GMAT?

2) Do the admittance scores minimum vary from school to school, or is there a pretty standard threshold score that most schools adhere to?

3) I have seen several test prep material titles mentioned on these boards, but can anyone narrow down some truly exceptional study guides/books/websites?

4) Is there a rule of thumb as to what kind of impact obtaining an MBA can have on your career? i.e $25,000 more per year, etc

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forums, drewhorn :)

My following article might help you it's written for beginners/ 101.
How to approach GMAT

1.) you cant afford to left last questions unanswered on GMAT. your score would fall down significantly.
2.) each b-school has different GMAT stats, but most of them do not have minimum standard for GMAT score. (read: GMAT is not only deciding factor therefore they dont have 'threshold as such')
I'd say 650+ is always a good score.
