Absent on GMAT day

by doitright » Tue Nov 16, 2010 11:59 am
Hi all,

Previouslyin June, I have missed a GMAT test because I was sick. I have not received a score in the end, as the status of the exam of my mba account is blank. I assume that means that there is no reportable score.

Including this appointment, I have made 2 additional appointments where I did show up and take the test. This means I have made a total of 3 appointments, and showed up for only 2.

My questions are the following:

1. Even without a reportable score, does the first time count in that I have now have 3 attempts at the GMAT? or 2 attempts?

2. Even without a a reportable score, will schools notice this? What are the implications? Would it affect my application to graduate schools?

Thanks!

As long as you explain yourself preemptively, it should not make a difference. It isn't like you showed up, did a few questions, and took off. They will look at your actual scores and if you want to be extra careful simply notify them of this is a polite manner to preempt any problems (but I would not worry very much about it - this has happened to former students of mine and they were fine).

Good luck!

are you going to take any more attempt? if yes,the first attempt would be deleted from the GMAC database and would not be sent to schools as it sends only the 3 most recent scores...

This is also for the guy who replied below you:

I do intend to give GMAT another go. If I have fulfulled the appointment, I would have made 4 appointments, and showed up for only 3.

My concern is how admissions would interpret that.
