Need Advice !!

by hope&faith » Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:32 am
hi,
I write this post in a state of dilemma. I took GMAT last week and got 660 :(
Although i scored around 700 in my practice tests (GMAT prep included), somehow i couldn't replicate that on the test day.
My Profile :
Male,Indian,26 yrs
GMAT : 660
Grad : 8.3/10 {B.Tech, B.I.T Mesra, INDIA}
Work Ex : 37 months @ NTPC {Current Position : Asst. Mgr}

The dilemma that i mentioned above is about retaking GMAT or continue with the application process with this score. This question obviously depends on the schools i wish to apply, but the problem is that i am not sure of that too. I just want to stretch myself for the best i can get.
I began thinking of getting a higher degree to change/boost my career. Thus i started preparing for GMAT since July 2012. I didn't took any courses or online help.
This is where i need some serious advice. How far can i go with this score? If not , should i retake the GMAT ? Should i take an e-course etc.?
I would be sincerely thankful for any advice on my course of action.

Thanks in advance

Yours
Hope&Faith

Definitely definitely definitely retake the GMAT. Especially since you have been testing 40 points higher. If you can take a course, you might test even higher yet!!! The GMAT will help you a LOT, so it's best to start off with the best score you can get.

Well, save that money! Cause you are gonna need it!
:)
During the meanwhile I would suggest if possible first of all scheduling a visit to the schools you are most interested in. You have a year now, so there is no excuse for you not taking a "school visit" trip while classes are in session. You will be surprised by how much you learn!!!

Secondly is to aim for any sort of leadership position, promotion, at work if possible.
third, if your volunteer work or extra curriculars are lacking, now is really the ideal time to get moving on that. One full year more and some nice achievements can help you out when it comes time to applying.
