Starting 60-day study guide today!

by Chiquitita » Fri Sep 21, 2012 12:30 am
Hi all! I enrolled in the 60-day study guide day before yesterday, and just received my Day 1 instructions!
As always, I am thrilled to start this new journey.
I took the GMAT Prep Practice Test 1 yesterday and scored a 700 (Q49, V37). I am aiming for a 750+ score as I have very specific target schools to apply to.

Just wanted to see if anyone is also starting the course today!

Oh, and I haven't yet fixed my test date -- I know the mailer says fix it 59 days from today, but I think I will use my own discretion there.

Cheers!

Wow, 700 is an excellent baseline score (most students would be happy to end their studies here :-) )

I believe that over 50 students sign up for the 60-Day Study Guide each day, so there are many in your cohort.

Cheers,
Brent

On Day 13 of the study guide now. I have so far been able to do all the daily sessions.. except the further reinforcement portion. Keeping it for later.

As of Day 12, does anyone want to compare charts on the various topics?
Oh, btw, I have set my GMAT date to Nov 14, which is less than 2 months from the time I started the study guide.. so I am also doing Verbal on my own so that I can be prepared for the test.

How's everyone else doing?

Cheers!

Good to hear that you're keeping up with the work!
Looking forward to hearing the results of your next practice test (on Day 22).

Cheers,

Hi Brent, Jim

As per my Day 46 schedule, I took the Veritas Free test. I got the following section scores:
Q- 49
V- 42
But my scaled score was 700. When I took GMAT Prep #1, my score was 700 with Q 49, V 37. On other forums I have read that these scores would be in the 740-750 range. Why is there so much of a difference?

This is critical because it is not a matter of 10 points on the 800 scale -- more like a discrepancy of 40-50 points, which is a great deal. Also, my scores show that I have been improving in certain areas, but the overall same score worries me.

Can you throw some light on this?

Much appreciated.

Thanks!

A further piece of evidence. I took a MGMAT Practice CAT last Friday and I got a 720 (Q49, V39). With the same quant score and a better verbal score, Veritas has scored my test at 700.
