I am totally confused in this rule.i know this has beed discussed a lot of time.

1 One of the X.............VERB (should be plural or singular.....and whether it should depend upon X

2 Usage of None instead of one.Is None singular(In some books it is defined as singular...But i guess it is a SANAM pronoun..)

3 One of the X THAT....Verb (on which should verb depend)....in this case does verb depends upon subject of the sentence....

Please add any more sentence for this rule.....

Here are all the contructions

One of X ---- Singular [because ONE is the subject]

e.g. One of the models of advanced machine was designed by Megacorp.


X is one of Y ---- depends on X, whether X is singular or plural [ because X is the subject here]

X is one of Y + who/that+ verb [ Here verb will depend on Y, because the verb following who/that always depend on the noun preceding it.]

e.g. Licorice is one of the few flavors that appeal to me


P90 is one of the few assault rifles that have shorter range but 100 round magazines.



None = No One

Either of the two constructions are correct, but GMAT prefers None because of the concision.

None Of X

None here can be singular or plural depending on X
