An exclusive tourist resort charges tourists b dollars for the first night stay and charges a reduced rate of c dollars for every subsequent night of stay .How much does the tourist resort charge tourist for the first night stay?

1)Adam was charged 390 dollars for his 6 nights stay
2)The average( arithmetic mean) daily room rent for 3 nights' stay is 7/9 th times the rate for the first night stay .

Statement 1: (b + 5c) = 390
We don't know the value of c.

Not sufficient

Statement 2: Average rent for 3 nights' stay = (b + 2c)/3
Hence, (b + 2c)/3 = 7b/9 ---> (3b + 6c) = 7b ---> 6c = 4b
We don't know the value of c.

Not sufficient

1 & 2 Together: We have two equations in two unknowns. We can easily solve for b.

Sufficient

The correct answer is C.
