100 100 140 140 140
so ans is B ie 100

2
Ans is A 64%

initially let family = 100
Lee = 60

after increase
Lee = 72
rest family = 40 [same]

total family income = 112

72/112
= 64%

Hope this helps

Let Mrs. Lee's earnings be 60 in may

total family earnings = 100

Mrs. Lee's income June = 60 + 60*20% = 72

total family income = 112

combined income = 72/ 112 = 64%.

Hope this helps.

5 pieces of wood

124 = mean
140 = median or the middle value
we need to find the maximum possible value therefore, minimize all the other values

the shortest piece of the wood has to be less than 140, largest has to be greater than 140.

total = 124*5 = 620

x + y + 140 + 140 + 140 = 620

x+y = 620-140*3 = 620-420

x+y = 200

Maximum possible length = 200/2 = 100.

Hope this helps.

Let Mrs. Lee's earnings be 60 in may

Mrs. Lee's income June = 60 + 60*20% = 72

total family income = 112

combined income = 72/ 112 = 64%.

Can someone explain why the combined income goes up to 112?

May month total income = 100

Lee's earnings were 60% of the Lee Family's total income : 0.6 * 100
= 60

In June Mrs.Lee earned 20% more than in May : 0.20* 60
= 12

June Income = May Income + Earnings of lee in June
100 + 12
= 112
Now ,what percent of the Lee family's total income?

(Mary Contribution/Total Income)* 100

72/112

=64%
