Trouble with Exponents

Holy cow, exponents and roots are giving me huge problems. I know the rules but I never see the manipulations. Are there any basic guides out there that people know if where I can get a good understanding. I'm talking like 6th grade stuff.

Anything helps.

Oh and not the MGMAT books either I'm talking real basic.
