There are 2.54 centimeters in one inch. Which of the following is an educated guess for 140 centimeters in inches?
(A) 48
(B) 56
(C) 62
(D) 68
(E) 70

2.54 is appx. 5/2

2.54 cm = 1 inch

1cm = 1/2.54 = 2/5 inches

140 cm = 140 x 2 / 5 = 56

good answer, but what do they mean by an educated guess here?

Educated guess in this context means an approximation.

As the two words suggest, an educated guess is a guess based on the some facts or hard evidence you already have, rather than picking numbers at random.

why do we need pick numbers in this question ever?

That statement I made is "general definition" of educated guess, not specific to this question.

2.5 * 60 = 150

Hence C, D and E are out

2.5 * 4 = 10

Hence answer = 60 - 4 = 56 = B
