A line of people is divided into groups. Each group consists of a continuous section of the line. Samantha was the 27th person in line. Each group has a minimum of 2 people, and a maximum of 6. If the groups are numbered from the front of the line to the back, and Samantha is in group x , which of the following must be true?
2 <= x <= 11
3 <= x <= 12
4 <= x <= 13
5 <= x <= 14
6 <= x <= 15

Samantha's group number, i.e. x will be maximum when all the groups before x contains the minimum allowed, i.e. 2 people. Hence, x will be equal to the smallest integer greater than or equal to (27/2), i.e. 14

Now, x will be minimum when all the groups before x contains the maximum allowed, i.e. 6 people. Hence, x will be equal to the smallest integer greater than or equal to (27/6), i.e. 5

Hence, 5 ≤ x ≤ 14

The correct answer is D.

Ans D

assuming no of people in group = 2, we can have 14 groups with Samantha in the 14th group thus x=14.

assuming each group has 6 individuals, we can have x=5 with Samantha in the 5th group.

Since the no of folks in a group ranges between 2-6 thus x also ranges between (5,14). Hence D.

If each group comprises of 6 people(maximum), then Samantha would be in group 5 (24 - 30)
If each group comprises of 2 people (minimum), then Samantha fall in group 14 (26-28)

So answer should be D - 5 <= x <= 14
