If it took Carlos 1/2 hour to cycle from his house to the library yesterday, was the distance that he cycled greater than 6 miles? (1 mile=5280 feet)

(1)The average speed at which C cycled from his house to the library was greater than 16 feet per second.

(2)The average speed at which C cycled from his house to the library was less than 18 feet per second.

t =.5 hr for distance to be grater than 6 miles his spped must be graster than 12miles/hr

stmt 1: dist in half an hr at 16 feet per sec 16 * 1800 = 28800 / 5280 which will be less than 6 miles so will be the distance for a speed of 16.1 feet per sec, but for 30 feet per sec distance will be more than 6 miles

INSUFF

stmt 2: similarly INSUFF take 17.99 feet per sec > 6 miles

take 2 feet per sec < 6 miles

INSUFF

Combine : here also it can be less than 6miles or grater than 6 miles bu taking 16.1 & 17.99 (boundary values)

INSUFF
