Dear Stacy,

I’m new to this forum and having noted that you are able to evaluate on the applicant’s profile, please kindly help evaluate my profile:

- GPA: 3.48
- Major: psychology
- School: a prestigious university in the Asia-Pacific region (top in Hong Kong)
- GMAT with breakdown: 660 (Q: 46; V: 36)
- Work experience: 3 yrs of working experience at a world renowned property developer (a Fortune 500 firm); joined that company as a management trainee and promoted to ‘assistant leasing manager’ in early 2008. In charge of a +400,000 s.f. shopping mall and belonged to the core committee of several new mall marketing and existing mall renovation projects.
- Extracurricular involvements: active (committee member of several student organizations)
- Awards, patents, publications: exchange study scholarships
- Interesting personal facts: international student from Hong Kong working in a real estate firm with a psychology background. Interest includes travelling and has spent a semester of study in New Zealand. Also been sent to the mainland China (e.g. Shanghai) to understand the research Chinese market

To be specific, I am considering the following schools (in order of preference):
1. Emory
2. U of Texas – Austin
3. Washington U in St. Louis
4. Indiana

Thank you so much and I shall look forward to having your comments!

Dear Ka Lok,

I think you have the foundation to build a competitive application. The most significant potential weakness is your GMAT score being a little low, especially as you will be competing against other international applicants for a limited number of seats. Other potential weaknesses would be limited extracurriculars after college and limited quantitative courses on your transcript. It will be important for you to leverage your work experience, specifically leadership and managerial skills, and any other unique aspects to your background to distinguish yourself in the applicant pool.

Best of luck,
Lisa
