I think the reputation is historic and not that he is hisctorically deemed...... INCORRECT

Out from B and A, B is shifting "historically" from the player reputation to player fame. Shift in the meaning. I would go with A to keep the original meaning, and I also can not find any mistake with A.

"he" in the second clause doesn't have a reference. ( Modifier refers to Anatoly Karpov's historic reputation, not to Anatoly Karpov).

Subject "he" of the modifier should refer to Anatoly, but both of them are quite far. Not a very good construction. Reference has to be very clear.

"being" is not required. you can eliminate being and still the line will make sense.

D uses active construction. Although introduces subordinate clause. And "He" definitely refers to Anatoly Karpov.

So as stated earlier(Below)Is construction too bad to eliminate D, inspite of active voice usage?

Option D and E are out . wrong opening modifier /..
Option C is possessive poison . Doesnt fere to waht it intends to .
Option B changes the meaning somewhat
