Question 2:

There are x L pencils and 2x K pencils. If there are a total of 32 pencils in the box, then 32-x-2x or 32-3x of the pencils are J pencils.

L/4+L/5+.05(32-3L)=3.4

.3(L)=1.8

L=6

Number of J pencils= 32-18=14

C

Question 3:

There are a total of x rats in the experiment. Y of those rats died during the experiment.

Death rate among male rates= .30(y)/.40(x)

Death rates among female rates=.70(y)/.60(x)

3/4/(7/6)=3/4*6/7=18/28=9/14
