That the new managing editor rose from the publication soft news setions to a leadership position is more of a landmark in the industry than /her being a woman/

a

I can not find OA.

My money is on (E).

The "that" at the beginning needs another comparison starting with "that" to maintain parallelism. So that leaves us with (D) and (E)

d, that she was a woman
I'm sure she still is a women :)
e, that she is a woman
