A certain meter records voltage between 0 and 10 volts inclusive. If the mean value of the 3 recordings on the meter was 8 volts, what was the smallest possible reading in volts?

10 + 10 + 4 = 24.

The other two being maximum of 10 while the total still has an average of 8.
