Of 30 applicants for a job, 14 had at least 4 years' experience, 18 had degrees, and 3 had less than 4 years' experience and did not have a degree.How many of the applicants had at least 4 years' experience and a degree?

A. 14
B. 13
C. 9
D. 7
E. 5

Solution:
There are 30 applicants for the job.
Since 3 candidates had less than 4 years' experience and no degree, number of candidates who had either at least 4 years' of experience and a degree or both is 30 - 3 = 27.
Since 14 had at least 4 years' experience and 18 had degrees, number of candidates who had both at least 4 years' experience and degrees is 14+18 - 27 = 5.
The correct answer is E.

Above method rocks.
But just to make thing more clear
Tabular method can make things more clearer in problems like these.
