by cwest131 » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:33 pm
Hi Everyone
I have recently decided to take GMAT. I am new to this application process. I was wondering, how does this the process to Recommendation letter works. Will the letter be sent to school or MBA.com. I want to know, where is the letter going to be sent.

Thanks for all your Help

The GMAT has nothing to do with the rec letters. The rec letters are part of the application. You need to register your recommenders in the school online application system and then they get a link to the online rec system where they can write the rec and submit it to the school.

Is that for every school? Or are there some schools whereby we upload PDFs or something like that? What I'm getting at is do we as applicants get to see what our recommenders write or is it meant to be confidential?

It's meant to be confidential. Whether your recommender allows you to see what he or she sends is up to them.

Many schools will ask on the application to check a box saying you "waive" your right to see reference letters.

I advise my clients to indeed check that box and waive their right, but then if the letter writer wants to share, that is his or her personal decision.

Of course an ideal letter writing partner will want to show you their work and solicit input. And this is to your advantage based on your communication objectives as an applicant.

Hope that helps!

You have to read the recommendations instructions provided by the school, and also check their FAQ page if possible. Usually the recommendations are submitted online, and it's up to you if you want to see what they wrote about you.

My problem is that my supervisor is leaving at the end of July. He is a very nice guy and has agreed to help me out by writing me a recommendation letter, but he is really busy. I just want to make sure, I do all the preliminary things. Like where the recommendation letters need to be sent. I was hoping that the letter were going to be sent at one place or one site and they will distribute the letters to schools, where ever I might apply.

Please I need some expect advice on this problem
