'like' vs 'similar to'

which one is more correct and why?

Like his brother, Ram left the company.
Similar to his similar, Ram left the company.

I know that 'as' is wrong in these contexts.

As his brother, Ram left the company.

I feel Like his brother, Ram left the company. is better.
Its a comparison question. When comparing nouns, we should use LIKE.

In meaning, Like is explained as similar to, probably to explain why LIKE cannot be used to introduce examples.
