Possible Universities

Hi everyone,
I am currently working as a Software Engineer. I am looking forward to pursue a full-time MBA from universities in USA from Spring 2012. Following are my profile details,
1. I have a 1 yr experience currently (April 2011) which would be 2 yrs by Spring 2012 within IT industry.
2. I have graduated with a GPA of 3.1-3.5( 71% aggregate) in Bachelor of Engineering.
3. My GMAT score is 650 and I am willing to take up GMAT again if required.
4. My TOEFL score is 102 in Internet- based test.
5. I am doing a Part-Time Post Graduation degree in Finance and Economics (Company Secretary Course) and have completed Intermediate Level currently.
6. I have a decent essay writing and communication skills.
Can someone suggest the kind of universities that I stand a chance of getting into? The range of universities across which I should contemplate putting in my application. Thanks in advance.

It is not generally a good idea to pick a school based only on the metrics you are providing. There is way more to choosing a b-school than this. What are you planning to do afterwards? Where do you want to work? What do you want your focus to be in b-school? How do you like to learn? All these and more questions are some you should be asking yourself. As far as your basic credentials, at this point, they appear to be average qualifications--not bad, but also not the most competitive. You must realize your applicant pool is a very large one, and it's not easy to stand out amongst your peers. If you had a good, but fairly average undergrad record and a good, but average-for-top-schools GMAT score, and good but minimal work experience, unless you have something very unique in your experience you can use to leverage your way up the rankings chain, you are likely going to be looking in the low second or even third tier of buisiness schools. One thing you might consider is part time MBA programs, which are not as picky as their full time equivalent programs. If you truly have no inkling about schools, at least investigate what part of the country you would like to spend two or three years in....that might get you pointed in the right direction perhaps?

I am looking for an MBA degree in Finance. Thats the reason I took up the Company Secretary degree. So that it can act as a precursor to my MBA. When it comes to geographical locations, my preferences are Texas, Chicago, New Jersey and New York in no particular order. There are both 1st tier and 2nd tier colleges in and around these regions. I would like to know my chances in the above regions with my present profile/credentials. Thanks again.
