Find myself...

by tarunpatel06 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 9:49 am
Hey all,

So I am planning on taking the GMAT in two months, beginning of June, otherwise, I will have no time to study this summer as it is already packed with other things going on. I work full time, and occasionally travel for work. My question to those that have studied on their own and haven't taken a class, is that when studying and doing practice questions (mainly for Math), I find myself looking through the solutions a lot. I am not sure if that is a good way to go about studying it. I started to take the Diagnostic in the OG, and got 1 out of 25 right and just gave up. Is studying the solutions and effective way to study, as I've read plenty of times that consistant practice will help acheive a higher score?

tarunpatel06 I may not be your ideal person to make a comment on this post as per your requirements, because I have taken a GMAT class but I can offer a tip. Studying the solutions is NOT the right way to go about studying. The key to GMAT success is to understand all of the underlying concepts in each problem and you can't learn that from only studying the solutions. Most people work and study for the exam simultaneously, so it can be done.
