Hi :)

A) Is it okay to say sth like: "This is Anna' s book and this is THAT OF John." I am mixing a 's and a of possessiv structure. Is this okay on GMAT?

B) Does a "THAT OF"-structure need to have some parallel form that it refers to? What is then considered parallel?

You will use that of in comparisons and your sentence a is not a comparison.

Anna's book is better than that of John.

But you would likely just say, Anna's book is better than John's.
