Hi,

I have started my preparation for GMAT from May'12 . Today I have finished OG 12th edition verbal section(SC,RC,CR) along with OG verbal additional . I gave two mock tests also last month . Below are the detailed score of that -

1. GMATPrep S/W Test1 - 550 (V17,Q49) [ Gone for that before starting any preparation ]
2. Princeton Diagnostic Test - 450 (V24,Q26) [ Gone after finishing OG 12th edition only ]

Now I want to know what books and strategy should I follow to get score around 750 in real GMAT scheduled in Mid August'12 . Any suggestion would be very helpful for me since I am not interested to enroll myself in any GMAT coaching centre .

Thanks,
Sayan

I also noticed that my scores decreased significantly on certain test prep CATs.

Here's an example:
GMAT Prep Test 1: 690
Manhattan GMAT Prep Test 1: 710 (my studies were paying off, I thought)
Kaplan Test 1: 620 (surprised by the dramatic decrease, I took another provider's test shortly after)
Veritas Test 1: 610 !!
GMAT Prep Test 2: 720

Actual GMAT: 680 (V:44/Q:39)

I crammed Quant only for the past month or so to take a shot at the test before the June 5th test change; this didn't quite pay off. It sounds like you're in the opposite situation and are strong on Quant and need to work on Verbal. One piece of advice I see regularly on these forums is to read periodicals like The Economist.
