leaking cannot be used as a verb is required instead. leaking and causing... will show 2 effects which is incorrect. Hence use a past tense to depict a past event. "leaked" in choice C is correct -- then u can use causing ( to show the effect). hence choose C

Correcting post- leaking (is also incorrect as its showing an ongoing process where as we needed a past tense)

Please correct....

@Force

Leaking is not acting as a verb over here...its not indicating any tense..its a modifier..IMO

yes you are correct that why A is wrong. we need a verb there or at least in that part of the sentence. Leaking is incorrectly modifying the wrong word. The sentence uses Leaking as if its a verb.... sounding as if a continuous action.

Bro if you analyse then i am talking about the same thing. i need a verb there and that too in past tense cause the action has been completed. Causing pollution... is showing the effect of what just happened.

by using leaking the construct is voiding the verb (which is required) making it sound as if there are two results and a continuous action.

but i understand your point and i am in sink with it. leaking has not been used as a tense. i have edited the post. i was not able to explain my point. thanks for correcting though.
