Good evening -

I'm wondering from those who have worked from various study "guides" .... in terms of overall quant difficulty and similarity to the actual GMAT, how would you rank the three materials in the topic?

Tonight I started in on the MGMAT question banks after finishing up the OG12 quant (supplemented by diligent study of the MGMAT strat guides), and the difficulty level seemed to jump pretty substantially. By the end of the OG, I was cranking through questions correctly, left and right. (As I understand it, the OG is supposed to get more difficult in the latter half). The question bank on the other hand, when I opened it up, my response was "whoa...."

I've yet to touch the CAT's, as I'm saving those until a few weeks before the test.

Although OG consists mostly easy to moderate questions, they are invaluable for practice. They are the closest to the actual GMAT's questions.

But if you want to sharpen your math skills by practicing tougher problems or in other words, getting accustomed to tougher problems, then MGMAT is a great resource. MGMAT questions normally involve too many calculations. But it is really great when you work out those questions under limited time (75 min).

So, on the whole, both resources are the must. OG is undoubtedly superior to MGMAT because OG comes from GMAC, the test makers!
