Best way to study for probabilty/combos?

by odannyboi » Sun Oct 10, 2010 5:09 pm
I've read the combination/probability MGMAT section for the third time and STILL am getting even the easy ones wrong! nowhere else does anyone else use anagram grids so its kinda hard to use the method when the OG and everyone else solves the problem a different way.

Any universal way to learn this material?..I am aiming for a 640 so should I just guess on these questions since there usually are only 2 or 3 at the most? I am wasting alot of time on this subject and it getting on my nerves to the point where it is affecting my other strengths.. I hate probability.

You just need to know the basic and that's it. If 640 is your goal, I wouldn't even invest any effort to learn probability and combinatorics. You probably won't even come across 1 such question on your way to 640.
Yep.

Thats what I like to hear! Thanks. I mean the probability that i'll get a very difficult one would be low. no pun intended.

I had one probability question on my 1st gmat attempt and guessed on it.

I got a 48 in quant on my last exam and I didn't come across any probability question. I did have two basic combinatorics questions though, and that is why I suggested you to learn the basic.
Yep.

Sweet! I am pretty good with combos... but when they start throwing around probability I get a little tense. I know they are closeley related but sometimes combos are just a component to prob.
