plug-in

(5/4)W in 3 days means, (12/5)W in 1 day. So we are looking for the combination that yields us (12/5)W in a day ..

Lets try D: 10

i.e 10 days for 2W i.e. 5 days for 1W for X

i.e 3 days (2 less) for Y

so -

1/5 + 1/3 = 8/15

lets try E: 12

i.e 12 days for 2W, i.e. 6 days for 1W for X
i.e. 4 days for Y

1/6 + 1/4 = 10/24 = 5/12 or 12/5 W ... bingo.

Ans is E.
