recently took GMAT.. what next?

by rachitgrover » Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:10 pm
Hi,

I got a 690 on my GMAT (Q-50, V-33).

About me:
I am working in a software company in India with 2 years Exp. as for now.
My Eng degree was 68%(Electrical)..
I am fine in extra curriculars(Won a few prizes Dance, Sports etc at college level and Participated in two State/National Olympiads at school level )

My targeted colleges will include one's with Good financial aid (Not that desperate for top schools.. but aid + School Rank will be important factor for me )

Please suggest me 1) if you could give me a few names that i could look for 2) Need suggestions on what all MBA i can go with IT background(I know it's personal interest, but still want to know the trend and experiances)...and 3) if i should wait for another year to apply(so as to add another year to my profile and make it some 3.5+ )

Thanks!!!
Rachit.

Dear Rachit,

I don't think you need to wait to apply if you feel you are ready to do your MBA now. With your profile, you will be looking at schools ranked in the 30-60 range for the best scholarship opportunities. Ideally, you want to find schools with GMAT averages at or below 690. You will also want to customize each application to the school demonstrating you have done thorough research and how you are a good fit for the program.

Best of luck,
Lisa

Dear Rachit,

You should identify schools that will best prepare you for the career you want post-MBA and have strong connections to that industry. You will find people with an IT background in any MBA program in the world.

Good luck,
Lisa
