my profile goes as follows

I am an INDIAN male

regarding my choice of location----i am looking for MBA in Marketing in a US B-School.....

GMAT SCORE---640 ( 50/25 )

GRADUATION --- B-Tech (in Information Technology) with 75% ( considering my university toppers get around 83%)

SSC(10th)---87%

HSC(12th)---80%

I am affiliated to an NGO that helps orphan children.

I have been into my family business for 1 year. The company deals with pneumatic and electrical tools, we do import and exports and have dealers in Japan and US, but i don't know whether university people will consider this as a valid work exp.

I have decent extra-ciriculars( college football team, dance comp, governer award in 'scouts and guides' , black belt in karate, many certificates in atheletics etc)

What really concerns me is my verbal score, so can u rate my chances in following universities..

1) University of Maryland (SMITH)
2) Rice University (Jones)
3) Arizona University (Eller)
4) Boston college (Carroll)
5) Case Western University
6) Purdue University (Krannert)
7) Emory University
8) University of Rochester
9) University of Wisconsin (Madison)

Dear scud,

Working for your family business is important as long as it was full-time and in a professional capacity. Your GMAT score is low for the schools on your list, so I strongly encourage you to retake the exam. As an international student from India, you are up against tough competition. While you might have good work experience, extracurriculars, and academic performance, you will not measure up to other applicants from India at these schools with a 640. Focus on your GMAT prep and then get your score up at least 30 points--you can do it!

Good luck,
Lisa
