Hi AdCons!!

I took the toefl test some weeks ago and I was a little bit disappointed with my final score: 108/120. I thought I could overcome the 110 barrier but my essays received only a fair grade. Anyway I'm not sure whether to repeat the test.

In my GMAT verbal part I took a 40 (89th percentile)

Do you think the admission committees will pay attention on my toefl score or they will only rely on my GMAT verbal score? Do you think my toefl score is adequate enough for applying to some of the top10 US schools? (HBS, for example, discourages students to apply with a 109 or lower on the toefl, but I don't know if other MBA programs have similar policies)
Moreover, while the average GMAT scores for business school classes are always published, it is difficult to get info about the average toefl scores of these classes; that's why I don't know if I performed bad or not...

Can you give me some advice please? Thanks a lot!

Dear fedex,

Your TOEFL score is high and within range for most US MBA programs. Schools will look at both the TOEFL and verbal score from the GMAT in your evaluation. Likewise, your interview and essays will further demonstrate your command of English. If HBS is one of your target schools, then you might try to take the TOEFL again to see if you can get to 109-110. I'm not convinced you won't gain admission with your current scores, but a higher score will certainly not diminish your chances.

Good luck,
Lisa
