I think NO.
Its completely computerized and no manual intervention.
I agree that there is some probability of bug in the system but I think its been years so very very rare chance.
Just try recalling, In how many questions you was sure shot correct?
May be you messed up initial questions....
or may be you did all experimental questions right and lots of others wrong.
Anyway, forget all this and restart.
Next time, you beat the gmat instead of gmat beating you...
All the very best!!!

thanks for your encouragement. i guess the only option left for me would be to pick the pieces and start from scratch.
really bummed about the whole thing. let my parents down, let myself down.
the test really simple to me and i'm certain I got a huge majority of the questions right. To be honest with you, the more I think about it the more paranoid I get.
I got so worked up to a point that I really thought the invigilator must have put in wrong answers for the questions I answered right. I know, I know you're probably laughing
but in all seriousness, thank you for your help.
let's see what the future has in store for me

you didn't let anyone down, all you have is a bruised ego, which thankfully is easier to fix.
this test is brutal in that it does that to you, get back up and show that POS who is boss. can't let a pathetic test like this get in the way of your goals.
trust me, i am in your boat, albeit with a higher score.

a couple of comments.
one:
my understanding is that "invigilator" is the person supervising the test, not the test algorithm (the other posters on this thread seem to assume that your question is about faulty algorithms).
there's no chance that the person supervising the exam could affect your score. the score is printed out right at the end of the test, without interference from the staff. the only way the staff could affect your score would be by kicking you out of the venue if they caught you doing anything against the rules; since you got a score, this didn't happen.
two:
very bad.
the test is absolutely NOT "simple".
so, if it seemed that way to you, the reality is that the subtleties of the great majority of the problems were probably flying right over your head. you may want to start from scratch, with the EASIEST problems in the official guides, and make sure that you're not making unjustified simplifying assumptions and/or missing out on certain things entirely.
let me repeat: the test is NOT "simple". this casual declaration has me very worried not only about your perception of the test problems, but also about the way in which you study and prepare for the exam.
what did you think was so "simple"?
also, note that, since the test is adaptive, you get harder problems if you do a better job on the test. so, ironically, if you perceive the test as "one of the hardest things you've ever done", then there's a good chance that you did amazingly well on it (and thus were being served difficult problems as a result).

summa veritas:
most gmat problems, especially in the quant section, have subtleties. you should study with those subtleties in mind, and get takeaways (lessons) from the material accordingly.
