Hi All,
A male bowerbird uses just about anything ̶ gray and white bones, shining pebbles, and discarded plastic figurines and bottle caps ̶ to decorate his courtyard to attract a female.

A. gray and white bones, shining pebbles, and discarded plastic figurines and bottle caps
B. grayed and white bones, shined pebbles, and discarded plastic figurines and bottle caps
C. graying and white bones, shining pebbles, and discarding plastic figurines and bottle caps
D. gray and white bones, shiny pebbles, and discarding plastic figurines and bottle caps

OA A

Please help me why A and why not B

Shining pebbles is noun..... And shined pebbles sounds more like cleaned and polished by someone pebble

Basically we need to jus see that all three are nouns in the first list that is 1.gray bones 2 shining pebbles 3. Discarded ( plastic figurines and bottle caps)

The first three are adj+noun ...and so parallel
In love with "beatthegmat",I do not need any coaching I get all my doubt solved here on this 1 place...:) thanks to all the experts!!

Similarly to shined/shining, grayed/gray is also a change that affects meaning.

shined pebbles implies that someone polished the pebbles to make them shine.
grayed bones implies that someone made the bones gray.
graying bones implies that the bones are growing old and turning gray at the same time as the bowerbird uses them to decorate his courtyard.
discarding plastic figurines implies that the bowerbird is throwing away the figurines at the same time as he uses them to decorate his courtyard.
None of these meanings is intended.
Eliminate B, C and D.

The correct answer is A.

The meaning conveyed the OA makes sense:
shining pebbles implies that the pebbles all on their own are shining in the sunlight as the bowerbird uses them to decorate his courtyard.
gray bones implies that the bones are gray.
discarded plastic figurines implies that someone threw away the figurines.
