Efforts of large corporations to expand their markets and, more importantly, to dominate markets, have had greater positive effects on the national economy than on the corporations themselves. Any well-planned, concerted effort to dominate a market, successful or not, spurs the economy to a higher level of activity, and has an overall positive effect on the economic system in which it is employed.
The author wishes the reader to draw which one of the following conclusions?
Concerted efforts toward economic domination are beneficial, regardless of the means employed.
The largest corporations must bear the burden of spurring into action a stagnant economic system.
The long-term success of a corporation depends as much on the political savvy of its leadership as on their business sense.
A corporation’s efforts to gain market dominance have a positive effect on the economy as a whole.
Overactive government regulation of an industry can potentially do more harm than good.
