The sentence needs a "contrast" word to make it logical.(read a loud again then you see what the sentence means.) Therefore A,B, and C are out.

C is wrong because it is a run-on sentence.

Between D and E,
E is wrong because when you use "neither" you need a "nor" as a package deal.(correct idiom). However, the sentence has "or". Therefore, we don't need "neither".

D is the answer.

We need a contrast clause, "conjunction",
Even though
Although
or
though

We don't need a "still" word because it doesn't sound right and it is run-on sentence(two difference sentence that does't cohesive each other without conjunction(such as "and',"but","though"...) if you use "still". Besides it doesn't sound right.

the logic require "though"

"or" must go with "no" or "not" at the begining.
