Problem with Kaplan's explanation on a concept! Please HELP

I took the Kaplan CAT today.
one data sufficiency question has the following given condition

1. its given that (ab/cd) < 0.
a,b,c,d are numbers

2. its also given that cd > ab.

The CAT expln says that 'these 2 stmts indicate that cd is positive and ab is negative'.

Is this correct?

I am not convinced yet.

Could someone shed some light?

Its driving me nuts :)

As it is given that (ab/cd) < 0

Therefore both ab and cd cannot be negative but one of them has to be negative.

Also as it is given that cd > ab.

therefore we can derive that cd will be positive and ab is negative.
