(1) Total crop losses amounted to 6 tons.
(2) Pests destroyed 10 percent of the crop
What's the best way to determine whether statement 1 is sufficient?
OA E
The crop was lost due to the storm (1. a hailstorm and 2. attacks by pests). We have to find out what percent of the crop was lost due to the storm (1. a hailstorm and 2. attacks by pests).
Percent of the crop was lost due to the storm = [(Quantity of crop damaged) / (Total quantity of crop)]*100%
Let's take each statement one by one.
(1) Total crop losses amounted to 6 tons.
We have to information about the total quality of crop damaged. Insufficient.
(2) Pests destroyed 10 percent of the crop.
We have no information about the percent of crop damaged due to the hailstorm. Insufficient.
(1) and (2) together
Even combing the statement will not help as we have no information about how much quantity or percent of the crop was crop was damaged by the hailstorm. Insufficient.
The correct answer:
E
Hope this helps!
