chocolates and caramels

A candy assortment contains only chocolates and caramels. If there are four times as many chocolates as caramels in the assortment, then caramels are what fraction of the assortment?

(A) 4/5

(B) 1/2

(C) 1/3

(D) 1/4

(E) 1/5

Hi,
four times as many chocolates as caramels in the assortment means:
# of chocolates = 4*(# of caramel).
So, fraction of caramels is 1/5

Hence, E

You can just plug any number & see what happens..Let no of caramels are 10 so chocolates are 10*4= 40.Total is 50..Caramels to total= 1/5..Pick 15 as Caramel.60 chocolates.Total 75..Fraction = 15/75= 1/5..
So,Ans 1/5

I just figured there'd be 100, so 80 chocolates and 20 caramels. 20/100 reduces to 1/5.
