Hi,
I would like advice on where I can focus my quant study over the next week.
I have been studying for the GMAT for 5 weeks, exclusively quant, and exclusively using the Manhattan GMAT volumes 1-5.
5 weeks ago I took the first free CAT exam on MGMAT. I scored a 39 in quant after only getting to question 29 (zeroed out 30 through 37).
After reading every word and exhausting every practice problem found in guides 1-5 (including those that directed me to my OG-12 and OG-QuantReview), I took the second CAT on MGMAT (yesterday) and scored a 40, an improvement of only 1 point!
Despite going through each of the 5 quant guides, I was still baffled by the majority of the 37 questions on the quant exam, and still failed to reach all 37 questions.
That being said I took my first official practice test from mba.com today and scored a 48 in quant, reaching 36 of 37 questions before quick-guessing the last question as time ran out. 30 of the 37 were correct, and only several had me baffled.
What is your take on the difference in difficulty found in the MGMAT quant prep and the real deal?
In addition, during this time, I took all 5 CAT exams offered at 800score and scored over a 43 each time, completing each in time (highest score was 45).
I have scheduled a GMAT exam for October 26th, in about 3 weeks. I had planned on crushing yesterdays Manhattan CAT quant section and shifting to two weeks of verbal, followed by a week of AWA prep.
Scoring a mid 700 is my goal for the GMAT (my verbal scores with zero focus or effort have been 40 on all three CATs). How would you tailor my preparation and focus for the next 3 weeks before the exam.
note: I dont currently work and have 8-12 hours a day to study!
